SHOO loves seeing its members competing and developing. Orienteering is a growing and highly competitive sport, and SHOO often has members competing in regional, state, national and international competitions.
SHOO ‘Sneakers’ - Kid’s club
Beginning in 2019, SHOO is running a kid’s club and development program alongside its Highlands Forest Series events. The aim of this Club is to help kids feel comfortable orienteering in the bush, and to develop their general orienteering skills.
The kid’s club is free of charge, and will allow parents to either help out (and learn skills themselves), or head out on an adult course while their kids learn.
Subsidies are also available for SHOO juniors who undertake other training or compete at national events.
Metro league
SHOO also fields a number of teams in the competitive Sydney inter-club competition, the MetrO League. With 6 events across 6 months across Sydney, all Club members are eligible to run in a team. We field teams from Divisions 1 to 5, which allows a good pathway for beginners to learn, all members to grow and develop, and the elites to stretch their legs in a highly competitive environment.
